Distinctly black walnuts
All the bad reviewers don’t understand what they purchased. These are black walnuts and they taste like it. I was surprised Walmart even carried them. They are of good quality and what I would expect from them. These are a “wild nut” and not like English Walnuts in flavor.

Delicious black walnuts
These black walnuts are absolutely wonderful…tastes just like the ones I grew up with…these are NOT English walnuts…looks like most of the bad reviews were from people that were expecting the same taste as English walnuts…in my opinion black walnuts are MUCH better…

Uh, wow!
I was concerned about buying a bag due to the reviews but I read about black walnuts online and knew to expect a much different flavor than with the English walnuts. I am so glad I bought a bag. When I opened the bag this wonderful intense aroma hit me. That aroma continued as I put the pieces in my mouth and seemed to enhance the flavor of the walnuts. The flavor is intense. I picked up what reminded me of a very faint aftertaste of perhaps nuts that had been cooked with or expoxed to a liquor or whiskey. I have not had actual truffles but I am guessing the flavor of black walnuts is in the same flavor catagory as truffles.
