Nutrition numbers confusing or I’m dumb.
I love this rice but I am watching calories and this makes no sense.
It is saying each DRY serving is a half cup, and is 64 grams. That is 240 cal. No one is going to eat dry uncooked rice.
It says the entire package has 2.5 servings. So it should be 350 calories uncooked per package.
According to this package COOKED PREPARED rice is 280 ‘per portion’ … 280 calories each. And would be 700 calories. There is no way this is 700 calories.
normal Cooked rice is about 206 calories per cup.
What is this? There is no way this adds up. The entire KNORR PACKAGE NET WEIGHT is 5.7 (oz) 161 grams.
One US cup of white long rice converted to ounce equals to 6.53 oz.
1 cup of uncooked rice in grams is 210g. They are saying each serving is 64 grams * 2.5 servings which is 160g in the package, which, there isn’t.
That means this is not even a cup of rice. So ok, the flavoring has powdered cheese / whey / milk but still. There is no way this is that high in calories. Their serving suggestion is 1/2 cup. Meaning they are suggesting there are 2.5 * 1/2 … so a cup and a half. There is not even a cup and a half of uncooked rice in these, the weight tells us that. So the uncooked measurement is sensually useless.
And 1 1/2 cups cooked rice is 308 calories… you add a tiny butter milk, cheese its still no where near 700 calories. This 280 *the right column for a ‘portion’) is more close to what Id expect for the entire package. Even with it being a vermicelli.
